King Abdullah of Jordan is to visit Damascus Sunday for talks with Syrian President Hafez Assad on the peace process, a Jordanian official said Wednesday.
"Ways of strengthening bilateral relations and the most recent developments in the peace process, particularly on the Syrian track, will be at the centre of the talks," the official told AFP.
"Matters linked to the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon" will also be raised, said the unnamed official.
Jordan played an important role in the revival of Syrian-Israeli peace negotiations, which had been at an impasse for years, while King Abdullah has frequently expressed his support for the just demands of Syria for the return of the Golan Heights occupied by Israel.
