The judging Committee of "Emirates Women Award" held its final judging meeting today to choose Award winners. The meeting discussed the final arrangements of launching the closing ceremony to be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Said Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, the Chief Executive and Chairman of Emirates Airline Group and the honorary sponsor of Dubai Quality Group "DQG" at the Address Hotel in Dubai later in the month.

Ms. Rajaa Al Gurg, chairman of Dubai Businesswomen Council, Dr. Wafi Dawood, chairman of Dubai Quality Group, Ms. Amira bint Karam, head of Executive Committee of EWA, and Ms. Fatima Al Jaber, Chief Operating Officer at Al Jaber Group, attended the meeting.

The Committee highly praised the remarkable achievements of Emirati ladies, both citizens and residents, pointing out that their achievements this year surpassed all expectations. The committee also praised the effective and important role played by the woman in the Emirati arena, stressing that woman makes vigorous efforts and has a positive impact on making a radical change to prove herself through effective participation in various fields of life.

The award, organized by DQG, has allowed the participation for women within two main categories, businesswomen and professional women. The award requires businesswomen to have a private business in the UAE which has been surviving for less than three years which is directly managed by them. As for professional women, the award required them to be employees in one of the professional sectors in the UAE for three years as well.

It has to be noted that all Award nominees have received guidelines and directions from the previous award winners.

Emirates Women Award has recently organized a series of workshops on criteria and mechanisms of participation in the award in cooperation with a number of woman institutions and businesswomen councils in all Emirates. The committee makes such vigorous efforts to maximize woman's role in business sector by means of adopting systematic plans focusing on economic fields with a view to enhancing their contribution in promoting economic development projects.

It's noteworthy that Emirates Women Award for this year is supported by "Emirates Businesswomen Council" and "Dubai Businesswomen Council", however, it is primarily sponsored by Ajman Businesswomen Council, and Damac Holding, Philips corporation and Geoscience Testing Laboratory as a silver sponsor.
