Jury Members Visit the Young Entrepreneur Competition 2010 Exhibition

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development (MBRE) today announced that jury for the Young Entrepreneur Competition 2010 (YEC) have commenced their evaluation of the participating projects at the YEC Exhibition. The competition is organized by the Department of Economic Development in Dubai (DED) and MBRE.

The jury comprises specialists from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the UAE Ministry of Education, SS Lootah and Aswaq.

Nisrin Safar, General Coordinator of YEC 2010, said: “This year, more than 700 young and aspiring entrepreneurs are participating in the event, recording an increase of 150% over last year’s participation. All participants reflect a high level of creativity and innovation highlighting the strong entrepreneurial skills among the student community. The winners will be selected based on their creativity, innovation, marketing and profitability standards.”

“The jury will also take into account other standards which reflect the success of projects including the financial resources, environment friendliness of the project, the enthusiasm of the participant and commitment to customer service,” Safar explained.

The sixth edition of YEC Exhibition is taking place Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and will be held until April 3, 2010 at The Dubai Mall. The exhibition is open from 10 am to 10 pm, except on Friday, from 4 pm to 10 pm.

MBRE is collaborating for the second year with The Dubai Mall to host the event which is supported by Du as a main sponsor.

Since its inception in 2005, YEC has succeeded in encouraging entrepreneurial spirit among youngsters from high schools and universities across the UAE. The contest also conveys the concept of small and medium enterprises and business environments to the younger generation. The large and growing turnout at the competition reflects that it has effectively succeeded in preparing young business leaders.
