ALBAWABA - Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the area adjacent to the Israel–Egypt border a "restricted military zone", according to Israel Hayom. The decision was made after a Wednesday meeting to discuss the drone threat on the border between the two countries.

Katz also ordered the Israeli army to change rules of engagement accordingly.

Katz said that after a meeting with Shin Bet head David Zini, they agreed to treat the smuggling of weapons by drones as a "terrorist threat".

"We are declaring war — anyone who breaches the forbidden area will be attacked," said the Defense Minister.

The meeting was joined by Defense Ministry Director-General Maj. Gen. (res.) Amir Baram, Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai and delegations from the Defense Ministry, the Israel Defense Forces, the Shin Bet security agency, the National Security Council and the Israel Police, Israel Hayom added.
