Khalaf Al Habtoor met with Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan in his recent visit to the nation's capital Kazan, and discussed investment opportunities.

Mr Al Habtoor, chairman of Al Habtoor Group, recently travelled to Tatarstan, which is part of the Russian Republic, and received heart warming welcome by the country's officials. "I expected to be politely greeted by ministers and officials; instead almost everyone I met treated me like a long-lost relative"

Tatarstan's 53-year-old President Rustam Minnikhanov, a commodity expert and economist, with his team presented to Mr Al Habtoor four projects. They include development of the right bank of the Kazanka River, construction of multitier parking lots, and two residential development projects.

Tatarstan will host the Youth Olympic Games in 2013 and The CIS Summit. For the first time this year, it has an independent exhibit a London's World Travel Market.

"I was very impressed by President Minnikhanov, he is very intelligent, dynamic and hospitable" says Mr Al Habtoor of Tatarstan's president who assumed office on March 2010. "He must be doing a good job because his country is generally cited as a success story. As Russia's acknowledged educational and cultural centre there is so much for visitors to see and do."

"My management and I will study all the offered projects by the Government of Tatarstan. We are really interested in this kind of cooperation" concluded Khalaf Al Habtoor.
