Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, appointed Tuesday a new chief of staff, replacing Hassan Firouzabadi, reported the Iranian News Agency (IRNA).

The post was handed to Brigadier General, Abdol-Ali Pourshasb, who served the post of commander of the ground forces of the Iranian army, said the agency.

Khamenei pointed to the brilliant efforts of the new chief during the "eight-year sacred defense," and wished him all success in the new post -- Albawaba.com
