King Fahd of Saudi Arabia will pay for 1,000 relatives of Palestinians killed or injured in the uprising against Israel to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca, a minister said Sunday.
Pilgrimage or Haj Minister Iyad bin Amin Madani told the official SPA news agency the offer was a "homage to the relatives of victims" of the Intifada.
Saudi Arabia has stood staunchly behind the Palestinian revolt and paid out millions of dollars in aid and treated about 100 Palestinian wounded in the kingdom's hospitals.
