King Mohammed VI’s advisor in the Alliance of Civilizations Committee

King Mohammed VI’s advisor, Andre Azoulay, who is of Moroccan origin and of French nationality, was selected as a member of the Alliance of Civilizations Committee formed by UN to bring cultures closer and to overcome misperceptions between different cultures. According to an official statement by Kofi Annan’s spokesperson, “the members of the Alliance of Civilizations Committee have been identified “through extensive consultations with specialists in the field of inter-civilizational and inter-cultural relations.” Regarding his selection as a member of the Committee, Azoulay said that he is “very happy and moved” to be part of the Committee that consists of prominent international personalities.  Members of the Committee named by Annan include Frederico Mayor (former general director of UNESCO), Desmond Tutu, Karen Armstrong and Arthur Schneir.
