The Kremlin's top security advisor Sergei Ivanov described his newly appointed US counterpart Condoleezza Rice as a "great Russian specialist" in a message sent Tuesday, Itar-Tass reported.
"Russia appreciates the attention she (Rice) gives our country along with her approach to Russo-American relations," wrote Ivanov, a close aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Condoleezza Rice, the US National Security Adviser-designate, is an academic who earned political kudos helping former president George Bush engineer a soft economic landing to the Cold War.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said Tuesday that Moscow and the new administration in Washington had "many issues on the agenda," including in the area of strategic stability -- MOSCOW (AFP)
