Al-Corniche Club, the luxury seafront lifestyle club and spa complex scheduled to open in Kuwait later this year, has appointed internationally renowned hotel and hospitality specialist John Hopp as General Manager.

Hopp joins Al-Corniche Club after two years as Spa Manager at the deluxe JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa in Mexico, recently rated by influential international travel and lifestyle publishers Condé Nast as one of North America’s top 50 spas.

“I am very excited to join Al-Corniche Club,” said Hopp, a U.S. citizen who grew up in Southern California, “A project of this size is always a challenge, and I will be drawing on all my experiences, from recruiting and managing a large number of elite staff down to supervising the details of day-to-day activities and services, to ensure Al-Corniche lives up to its potential of providing Kuwait with the best there is in recreation and relaxation.”

With 16 years of professional experience in the spa and resort industry, including a spa directorship at Qatar’s prestigious Doha Ritz Carlton, Hopp, who has a degree in architecture, brings a wealth of expertise and hands-on knowledge to Kuwait’s newest luxury retreat.

Stretching across 15,000 square metres, Al-Corniche Club will take Kuwait’s health club and spa infrastructure to unprecedented heights by introducing a unique concept that combines the comforts and luxury of a 5-star hotel with the exclusivity and personalised attention of a private members’ club.

The Club will offer state-of-the art exercise facilities, tennis and squash courts, private beach cabanas, a world-class spa with a thermal suite and Kuwait’s first hydro-pool, as well as a children’s crèche and business meeting venues.

Designed by award-winning British architect Jean-Paul Blisset, designer of Thailand’s Chiva Som Resort (Condé Nast World’s Best Spa 2004), the Club’s Thai-inspired sky blue pyramid roofs are quickly becoming a distinctive landmark along Kuwait’s Arabian Gulf Street.

Al-Corniche Club is owned by Al-Corniche Club Company, a subsidiary of Al-Massaleh Real Estate, one of Kuwait’s leading real estate companies with commercial and residential developments throughout Kuwait.
