Kuwaiti PM ”happy” with first woman minister despite protest by some MPs

Kuwaiti Prime Minister, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on Monday expressed delight over the newly-appointed Minister of Planning and Minister of State for Administrative Developments Dr. Massouma Al-Mubarak, taking oath in the National Assembly.

 

The Kuwaiti premier told reporters, on the controversy that the appointment is unconstitutional according to some MPs, the appointment was passed and approved.

 

According to KUNA, the premier expressed joy to have Al-Mubarak, the first woman in Kuwait to hold a ministerial post, as a member in the Ministerial Council.

 

On the demand to refer Al-Mubarak's appointment to the Constitutional Court by some MPs, Al-Sabah said they have the right to do what they want, but the appointment has been passed, the minister took the oath, and she would remain in her new post.
