Dutch midfielder Boudewijn Zenden is set to sign a five-year contract worth $1.9 million a year with Italian champions Lazio, the Italian press reported Friday.
Barcelona have accepted a transfer fee of around $11.8 million for the 23-year-old Zenden, who can operate wide on the left and who had an outstanding Euro 2000 final with the Dutch side.
Italian newspapers said that the deal was set to go through and that all that remained was banking guarantees to be met for the Spanish side.
Zenden will replace Portuguese midfielder Sergio Conceicao in the Lazio line-up after he and Argentinian Mathias Almeyda were sent to Parma in exchange for another Argentinean, the striker Hernan Crespo.
Lazio topped the exhange for Crespo with a cash offering making a total of $54 million, the highest ever football transfer - (AFP)
