Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort has received the platinum award for ‘Best Price Value Hotel’, and the gold award for the ‘Best Environmental Hotel’ at the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Travel Awards, held during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2007.

Patrick Antaki, general manager, accepted these accolades on behalf of his team at a glittering ceremony attended by more than 600 members of the region’s vibrant hospitality industry.

“Since opening in 2002, we have been continually enhancing our facilities and services at the hotel, reinforcing our commitment to providing our guests with the highest standards of service at the best possible prices. The award for ‘Best Price Value Hotel’ is, therefore, of great significance to us because it’s recognition of the team’s valuable effort and tireless dedication,” said Antaki.

“Le Meridien Al Aqah is more than a fancy leisure beach resort. We are an active one that is socially and environmentally committed and this is clearly reflected in the environmental events we have initiated and been involved in over the years including the ‘Clean up Arabia Campaign’ and ‘Our Environment is our Mirror campaign’,” Antaki added.

The MENA Travel Awards have been designed to recognize and reward superior services of outstanding organizations in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors of the region whilst encouraging even higher standards and applauding the exceptional efforts made by many. These awards are decided purely on guest voting for the hotels they believe deserve the award. Guests are requested to vote for their first, second and third choices which makes the voting process very fair. The votes are then audited by Price WaterHouse Coopers.

In addition to Le Meridien Al Aqah recent wins at the MENA, Le Meridien Al Aqah has won a host of awards in the past year including ‘GM of the Year’ at the recent DEPA Middle East Hotel Awards and the famed Hotelier Awards. Furthermore, the hotel won the title of ‘Middle East’s Leading Beach Resort’ for the second year in a row at the World Travel Awards (WTA) in November 2006.
