ALBAWABA - Sami Abu Zuhri, the chairman of Hamas, recently announced in a statement that the resistance in Gaza had successfully faced what he called a "world war," signaling a change in backing from countries that had previously supported Israel.
The University of Zitouna in Tunis, one of the oldest campuses in the world, arranged the solidarity festival "The Al-Aqsa Flood, the Dignity of the Nation," where Abu Zuhri gave his speech.
"The world was stunned as we liberated ourselves from Israeli media control, leaving the West shocked by the events unfolding in Gaza," said Abu Zuhri. He underlined that the occupation, which claimed to be the dominating power in the area, had been destroyed by Hamas's strategic planning.
"The war was well planned, and we were up against a worldwide coalition. Abu Zuhri went on, "We have persevered in spite of this, mentioning the astonishment of some officials who questioned Hamas's fortitude.
Abu Zuhri described the resistance's reaction to what he called a "global war," pointing to a dramatic change in world perceptions. He said that countries which had previously backed Israel were suddenly abandoning their support for the murder of women, children, and elderly people.
Furthermore, Abu Zuhri saw an increasing student-led rebellion against the assault coming from the US, which is often thought to be influenced by Zionism.
The declaration is made in the midst of ongoing hostilities that have arisen since October 7th, when Hamas and other Palestinian factions launched "The Al-Aqsa Flood" operation in response to ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestinian individuals, their properties, and places of worship, most notably Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
