Cognos (NASDAQ: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business intelligence and corporate performance management (CPM), today announced it has partnered with four of the leading Business Process Management (BPM) providers to enable right time, process-aware business intelligence with its latest release, Cognos 8 Business Intelligence.
Through a collaborative effort with EMC, FileNet, IBM and Savvion, Cognos 8 BI features a business process intelligence capability that enables customers to proactively monitor, invoke, and modify multiple historical and in-flight business processes leveraging relevant enterprise events using the software’s enhanced business event management functionality. By receiving a more holistic view of business process information coupled with relevant enterprise intelligence data, users across the organisation are able to make quicker and more informed decisions at the critical point in the process, thereby avoiding missed opportunities and increasing overall operational productivity.
“Rather than simply automating business processes, forward-thinking organizations are beginning to realise that gaining deeper contextual intelligence about these processes can result in a clearer view of the overall health of a project, program or the corporation as a whole,” said Patrick O’Leary, vice president of strategic alliances at Cognos. “By integrating our market-leading enterprise performance management capabilities with the collective expertise of our key BPM partners, Cognos is delivering the first and only demonstrable process-aware BI solution that can provide decision-ready information at each step along the process.”
Through its Partner Readiness Program (PREP), Cognos collaborated on this initiative with some of the industry’s foremost BPM solution providers. “EMC’s Business Process Management products offer global enterprises a streamlined approach to addressing the broad spectrum of processes they face on a daily basis,” said Balaji Yelamanchili, vice president and general manager of content management at EMC Software Group. “By embedding this capability with Cognos’ leading analytics and reporting functionality, EMC and Cognos are delivering a truly coordinated framework for optimizing business processes.”
IBM offers an integrated suite of process management solutions supported by a standards based service-oriented infrastructure as part of its IBM WebSphere portfolio.
“Enabling our clients to manage their end-to-end business processes and drive transformation and best practices is crucial to helping them become ‘on demand’ businesses. This collaborative effort with Cognos is premised on taking business process management to the next level – granting our joint customers a single, integrated view, with real-time intelligence of both its business measurements and IT system performance,” said Inhi Suh, director of business innovation and optimization at IBM. “We look forward to continue working together to help organisations respond more quickly to market trends and competitive threats and improve operational efficiencies.”
Cognos 8 Business Intelligence is available now as a controlled release and will be generally available in November.
