The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 12 people were killed Friday in protests across Syria. According to the report, four civilians were killed in the province of Deir ez-Zor (north east) and three in Idleb (north west). Meanwhile, two were shot dead in the province of Homs (center) while a civilian was killed in Lattakia (northern west of Syria). Another was killed in the southern province of Dara'a.

Meanwhile, demonstrations took place in several neighborhoods in the Syrian capital and towns close to Damascus, after security forces and the regime militia stormed early Saturday mosques in the town of Kfar Sousse, Maydan and al-Maliki amid heavy gunfire. At least ten people were wounded, especially in Rifai mosque.

This comes at a time when the UN mission spoke about the "urgent need to protect civilians from the excessive use of force."
