Lebanon’s Customs Department foiled an alleged attempt to smuggle two tons of drugs from Lebanon to Egypt Thursday, Finance Minister Ali Hasan Khalil said in a statement.

A customs unit arrested a gang of drug lords and found the drugs hidden under fruit boxes in the back of a truck.

The types of drugs were not specified in the statement. But photos released along with the statement showing the alleged bust appears that the drugs included hash.

The truck was found in a warehouse in an unidentified location of the Bekaa Valley, the statement, carried by the National News Agency, said.

Khalil said the drugs were on their way to Egypt, and that the detainees were handed over to the police.
