The former Lebanese MP Najah Wakim has described the economic and social situation in his country as catastrophic and called on the Lebanese to confront this situation in a peaceful and civilized manner by civil disobedience to prevent the government officials from selling the airport and privatizing the electricity sector.

The London-based Al Hayat Arabic newspaper cited Wakim as revealing at a press conference “scandals” in the Middle East Airlines, including the free trip to Paris it offered invitees to attend a wedding party for a friend of the Lebanese Central Bank Governor, Riyadh Salameh.

The newspaper said that Wakim had bitterly criticized seeking the help of French experts in the privatization process of the electric sector describing them as a bunch of highly paid thieves who had changed the routes of the Middle East Airlines leading the company to huge losses --Albawaba.com
