An employee at the Lebanon's main water authority in the Chouf was arrested Tuesday on charges of embezzling and squandering public funds, Daily Star reported Wednesday.
The paper quoted a judicial source as saying that Salah Tawil was seized on the orders of State Prosecutor Adnan Addoum after "incriminating evidence" against him was gathered during preliminary investigations.
Tawil, who works for the Barouk Water Authority allegedly embezzled an unspecified amount of public funds, said the daily.
Addoum also asked Electricity and Water Resources Minister Suleiman Traboulsi to sanction the arrest of the head of the authority, whose name was withheld by the source, on the same charges the press reported.
