The Lebanese government has decided to send a chartered plane to Kinshasa to retrieve the bodies of Lebanese expatriates executed in the wake of the assassination of President Laurent-Desire Kabila on January 16th, reported the Daily Star newspaper.
Information Minister Ghazi Aridi told reporters that an official count of the bodies had yet to be made.
“What happened in the Congo is a loss to Lebanon and we have to bear complete responsibility,” he said.
Minister of Culture Ghassan Salameh will go to Congo as a special envoy of President Emile Lahoud to follow up the issue with government leaders and report on the situation of the Lebanese community there, said the paper.
He will be accompanied by two high-ranking officials – Albawaba.com
