Lebanon's Speaker of the Higher Shiite Council, Sheikh Mohammed Mehdi Shamseddine returned to Beirut from France on Tuesday following three weeks of medical treatment, reported the Daily Star newspaper.
Speaking at the airport, Shamseddine said he was glad to be back and was feeling better following treatment.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the results of the parliamentary elections, said the paper.
"We hope the results bring good to the country and we hope the new Parliament will meet the desired level of responsibility toward the people it represents," he said.
He also said he hoped a spirit of competitiveness rather than animosity would reign in the country, added the paper.
On Sunday, the Iranian news agency reported the death of Shamseddine, but later in the day, sources close to the council dismissed the report as rumors - Albawaba.com
