Leeds United's dreams of a place in the European Champions League next season were shattered when they were held to a 1-1 draw at their home ground against Everton Monday, in which three players were sent off.

Referee Andy D'Urso sent off Everton's Richard Dunne who felled Michael Bridges with a two-footed tackle in the 50th minute and within 10 minutes Michael Duberry followed him for a tackle on Mark Pembridge giving him his second yellow card.

The final red card went to Everton's Don Hutchinson when he received a second yellow card for kicking the ball in protest to the referee's decision. Thus, Everton were forced to play the last six minutes with nine men.

Michael Bridges opened the scoring with a powerful strike giving Leeds the first-half lead.

Leeds were confident until the 60th minute when Everton's forward Nick Bramby scored the equalizer, leaving the Leeds' fans nervous. (Several Sources).
