legrand hosts annual investor event in dubai
Legrand, a global specialist in electrical products and systems, is hosting its annual investor and analyst conference for the first time in the Middle East. This conference is focusing on Legrand’s growth strategy in all emerging countries.
The event, taking place in Dubai on 5th and 6th June, will provide a select group of European investors and analysts with the opportunity to experience first-hand the construction boom that is currently taking place across the UAE. It will also offer an opportunity for Legrand to showcase some of the specific projects in which it is involved, including the Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, and Saba Towers.
Legrand provides products and systems for electrical installations and information networks offering solutions for use in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. It offers a variety of brands in wiring accessories, power distribution and protection, cable management, home automation system, structured cabling products and lighting control. With nearly 5% of sales invested in research and development every year, the group is constantly able to deliver new, value-added products to its wide range of customers.
The decision to host this year’s event in Dubai was based on the visible growth in the construction sector in the UAE and across the region, and the subsequent increase in demand for the necessary wiring, cabling and lighting, which are key areas of expertise for Legrand. The event also underlines the strengthening of ongoing relationships between Legrand and its local clients, such as Asteco and Istithmar.
Gilles Schnepp, Chairman and CEO of Legrand, was very enthusiastic about the group’s focus in the Middle East: “With the presence of Legrand’s entire management team from France, as well as regional managers from Russia and Latin America here, it is clear that we aim at developing further in emerging countries and that we recognise Dubai’s position as one of the world’s fastest growing and most dynamic cities of the world. It is exciting to be involved in some of the city’s landmark projects and to be a part of the development of this vast metropolis.”
“The pace of growth we are currently witnessing in the construction sector across the Middle East is unprecedented and we feel we are strategically placed to capitalize on the projected regional demand for electrical products and systems,” added Mohamed Ahmed-Yahia, General Manager of Legrand Middle East. “Legrand has been established in the region for over 25 years, and we are keen to demonstrate to the market, and particularly to our customers, our long-term commitment to the region and our belief that the potential and expansion we see here is sustainable.”
The conference also highlights the impressive growth of the group’s own operations in the Middle East. Legrand established its Dubai office in Jebel Ali Free Zone in 1996. Today, the office oversees the company's operations in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman. In addition to this, Legrand has a number of country managers covering Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Due to the regional success of the affiliate office in Dubai, the group is planning to launch this as a subsidiary business later in the year.
