Global and regional digital leader LG Electronics has reinvigorated its mobile phone line-up in the region with the youthful and stylish P7200 and S5200.

The futuristic mobile phones are fully-fledged multimedia products equipped with the latest communication technologies and the ability to support tri-band services. Both phones come with Bluetooth and infrared, MP3 function, 64 MB built-in memory, a 1000-entry phonebook, and 256K colour LCD display.

“LG’s mobile phone designs are focused on how our consumers live their daily lives, and our goal is to combine design and technology that offers creative yet practical solutions,” said K W Kim, President, LG Electronics, Middle East and Africa Operations. “LG’s latest phones are personalised, customised, fun and user-friendly – and they reinforce LG Electronics’ international reputation as a producer of premium digital technology products.”

The LG P7200 is compact, just 17mm thick, and housed in a stylish clamshell casing. The two-megapixel auto focus digital camera uses its 180-degree swivel feature to take perfect pictures from any angle. The digital camera is capable of recording up to 100 minutes of continuous video. The robust MP3 and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) player provides crystal clear sound and is easy to use.

The P7200 is also equipped with GPRS and EDGE technology for fast downloads of data, while the Bluetooth and infrared port enables file sharing. The Lithium-Ion battery allows up to four hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time. The P7200 also includes a T-flash (TransFlash) expansion card slot for convenient transfer of high-resolution photos and data.

LG’s S5200 is a slim, slide-up model. It is equipped with a 1.3-mega pixel camera with digital zoom, nine-frame continuous shooting feature, and a camcorder function that records and plays high resolution videos for up to 60 minutes. Additional features include an MP3 player with an equaliser for enhanced sound quality, Bluetooth, 64 polyphonic ring tones and 64MB memory.

“LG will continue to produce cutting-edge technology and design, backed by its world class research and development facilities. We are targeting sales of US$300 million in handsets in the Middle East and Africa region this year. Globally we expect to register a 50 percent growth in sales to seize the number three spot for handsets in two years,” added Kim.
