Libya, not a member of the Euromed partnership between the EU and its Mediterranean neighbors, will attend a two-day Euromed meeting in Marseille beginning Wednesday night, a French diplomatic source said.
He said Libya would be represented by Foreign Minister Abdurrahman Mohamed Shalgham, despite statements a week ago by Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi that no Libyan delegation would attend in protest at the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian violence.
At the time, Kadhafi urged all other Arab members of Euromed to boycott the meeting.
As it stood here late Wednesday, only Syria and Lebanon were boycotting the meeting, which was to take stock of the five-year-old economic, social and political partnership between the EU and its non-EU Mediterranean neighbors -- MARSEILLE (AFP)
