LINK Development Receives Microsoft’s “Services Partner of the Year” Award

Microsoft Egypt has selected LINK Development for its “Services Partner of the Year 2008” Award, citing LINK Development’s unique contribution to excellence and outstanding achievements in delivering world-class services to their customers.

Microsoft Awards, which recognize its partners, are amongst the most coveted in the industry. LINK Development was honored for raising the bar in the design and development of enterprise solutions built on Microsoft technologies and for demonstrating exceptional levels of innovation and value delivered to their corporate and government clients.

Hanan Abdel Meguid, CEO of LINK Development said: “Our team’s innovative use of Microsoft technologies and its problem-solving approach to customers’ business requirements and challenges has placed LINK Development at the forefront of software development in Egypt and the region. Backed by our successful partnership with Microsoft, we have delivered a number of landmark projects in Egypt and other Arab countries, including the new version of Bawaba portal (www.egypt.gov.eg) and Egypt’s new ICT Indicators Portal (www.egyptictindicators.gov.eg) projects.”

Karim Ramadan, General Manager, Microsoft Egypt, added: “LINK Development has always delivered outstanding services and solutions that add value and innovation to meet customers’ business needs and challenges.” The ICT Indicators Portal was one of the latest engagements for LINK Development with Microsoft in the government sector and was recently launched by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Minister Dr. Tarek Kamel presented the LINK Development team with individual recognition certificates for outstanding delivery of the project.

The ICT Indicators portal solution was developed in two components; a business intelligence layer and a data visualization layer. The solution takes the collected data from all the relevant ministries and government institutions and departments and migrate it into a designed data warehouse for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. The other layer of the solution, data visualization, turns this business information into meaningful statistics and graphs so that the ministry is able to make more effective decisions, as well as solve problems efficiently.

This solution, which currently includes 168 indicators, will help the ministry to assess the potential of ICT in Egypt and create strategies to realize this potential. It will also give access to individual and corporate citizens, NGOs and other institutions, government and private, to have access to accurate, up-to-date data of the sector. The ministry plans to use the ICT Indicators Portal to launch initiatives that will support the sector.

Another unique implementation by LINK Development using the latest Microsoft Technologies is the new Bawaba portal for the Egyptian government. Egypt was awarded Public Sector Innovator of the Year during the 6th African Congress for the Ministries of Civil Service, in which Egypt came first amongst 59 other nominated projects. Egypt received the first prize for the project it implemented in cities and governorates across the country. The project, which also features a plan to reach the rest of cities and governorates by 2011, obtained the highest recognition by the judging panel for its innovative approach in dealing with citizens on a local level.
