Luxembourg Foreign Minister Lydie Polfer, will pay an official visit to Iran between May 27-30, following an invitation by her Iranian counterpart Kamal Kharrazi.
Iranian diplomatic sources told the Islamic Republic News Agency that Polfer's visit is the first by a foreign minister of Luxembourg to Tehran since the establishment of the Islamic government in Iran in 1979.
The visiting Minister will meet with Kharrazi, as well as Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, Majlis President Mehdi Karroubi, and ministers of commerce and transport. She will discuss bilateral economic and political relations.
Luxembourg currently holds the chairmanship of the Strassbourg-based Council of Europe. A member of the Council will be accompanying Polfer on her visit to the Islamic Republic. (Albawaba.com)
