The US Army said a Marine was killed Sunday when a bomb went off in the central Iraqi city of Ramadi. Four others were wounded, the statement on Monday said.

The US command added the Marines were hit with an improvised explosive device.

In Baghdad, gunmen killed the deputy governor on his way to his office Monday, Iraqi officials said. Hatim Kamil was assassinated in a drive-by shooting, said Baghdad Governor Ali al-Haidari.

According to The AP, Interior Ministry spokesman Col. Adnan Abdul-Rahman said Kamil was killed when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle in the southern Doura neighborhood. Two of his bodyguards were also injured in the attack, Abdul-Rahman added. (albawaba.com)
