Mashreq hosts Meet the Experts session

Mashreq, one of the UAE's leading financial institutions, recently hosted a Business Continuity "Meet the Experts" (MTE) session. The MTE session stressed on the importance of rapid recovery and timely resumption of critical operations following a wide-scale disruption, through ongoing use or robust testing to ensure critical continuity arrangements are effective and compatible.

Key speakers in this session included Dhiraj Lal from Business Continuity Management Institute and Theuns Kotze from British Standards Institute shared their experiences with regards to the industry requirements for managing Business Continuity Management/Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery. The talks covered BCM trends and new technologies/approaches amongst other important topics.

Somnath Menon, Group Head of Operations and Technology attended the session and commented, "In today's business, it's very essential to identify key aspects of your operations, and ensure they are at minimum risk always, as it impacts the success of an organization. The main purpose of this session was to create awareness and exchange knowledge about business continuity management."

The event was attended by Iman Tawfiq, Head of Operations Control & Risk Management, Kumar Natarajan, Head of Operational Risk, Prakash Iyer, Business Continuity Manager and all the Business Continuity coordinators of Mashreq. The session was also attended by the Business Continuity & Security Managers from Commercial Bank of Dubai, Bureau Veritas and Dubai Properties Group.

Mashreq has a full-fledged Business Continuity team in place to ensure continuity of Business for their Operations Group. The Operations Group in the bank recently organized a 'Business Continuity Week' to create awareness among its staff on their role in Mashreq's business continuity management efforts.

The MTE session hosted by Mashreq is to highlight the importance of sharing and collaboration between industry professionals, practitioners, experts and stake holders; to bring awareness of BCM to organizations.
