Iran will hold a mass wedding for 14,000 student couples in March in the context of a campaign to encourage young people to get married, according to Tehran Times on Wednesday.

The mass wedding is being sponsored by the representative of Iranian Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to the capital's universities, who has plastered the city with posters promoting the benefits of married life, said the paper.

The commitment of marriage has in recent years become a less attractive option for Iran's young, not least because of the struggling economy, said the report.
