The Marriage Fund will arraneg a mass wedding for over 30 couples next month, disclosed Jamal bin Obaid Al Bah, director of the fund. A special ceremony will be held in Ras Al Khaimah, under the auspices of Shaikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. According to Khaleej Times, the Marriage Fund has planned several social programmes for the year 2002, on top of which are mass weddings as part of its strategy to achieve demographic stability in the UAE, said al Bah. The fund offers generous long-term loans that reach up to Dh70,000 to young UAE men wishing to marry UAE women, in order to defray the costs of getting started in life. Nationals over 30 years of age are entitled to an additional Dh20,000 if they marry, al Bah added. (Albawaba.com)
