30 children from Gaza Strip and the West Bank visited Jordan within the Hashemite Jordanian Charity Committee initiative which receives Palestinian children to spend a recovery period in the Kingdom, according to the directions of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, commended the Committee's initiative and the efforts it exerts to facilitate the aids to Gaza and the West Bank, in compliance with the directions of His Majesty to provide the Palestinian brethren with the necessary medical support.
During a meeting held with the presence of the Committee's president, Ahmad Al 'Amyan, Maani also commended the superior efforts of the military field hospital in Gaza which offers medical services to the citizens day and night.
The Mayor briefed the delegation on the Municipal Council and its main role as an intermediary between the municipal committees, children, and Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) council for the purpose of exchanging information, and to tackle all developmental projects that aim at realizing growth and sustainability, especially in children's affairs.
The Mayor revealed that there are discussions and attempts with the officials of Arab Towns Organization to apply and publicize the idea of children municipal committees executed by GAM within the initiative "Amman, a Child Friendly City".
Mr. 'Amyan expressed his appreciation of GAM efforts, as a leading agency in the charity initiatives, and for its incessant keenness to extend aid and support, not to mention its ceaseless efforts to service the city and the citizens through developmental and municipal projects.
On behalf of the President of the Palestinian Authority and the guest delegation, the Delegation's Head and the GM of exterior aids in the Palestinian Presidency, Thafer Noubani, expressed his gratitude to the King for his constant support to the Palestinian cause, and his honorable stance to found the State of Palestine at all international and regional gatherings.
Noubani also thanked the Jordanians, brothers of Palestinians, and all public and private institutes for their great reception during the visit which eased children's pains and sufferings as a result of occupation and seizure, and gave them hope for a better future.
The Delegation visited Hawa Amman FM, and was briefed on its role in sending GAM's messages to the citizens, in addition to Zaha Cultural Center, Al Jubeiha Entertainment Park, Jabal Al Qal'aa (Citadel Mount), the Roman Amphitheatre, the Hashemite Plaza, and the city center.
Mayor of Amman handed over to the delegation GAM's plaque, presents and toys, in the presence of the 1st Secretary of the Palestinian Embassy to Amman, Bassam Hajjawi.
