Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, recently received at his office the President of the International Federation of Body Building (IFBB), Rafael Santonja, the Vice President of IFBB, the President of the Arab and African Federations, Dr, Adel Faheem, in the presence of the President of Jordan Body Building Federation, Yahya Al Soud.
Santonja expressed his admiration of the urban and great development witnessed in the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdulla II, on all levels.
He also commended the efforts exerted by Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), to serve the city through the developmental projects executed in many fields, which positively impact the city and its citizens, especially in sports.
Maani said that GAM will resume its support to youth and sports regarding the infrastructure, such as playgrounds and sports equipment.
Maani commended the bodybuilding sport progress in Jordan and the radical change it induced recently, highlighting the positive impacts of receiving the Mediterranean Championship of Bodybuilding on the game popularity and improvement here in Jordan.
On his part, the Vice President of IFBB, Adel Faheem, stressed on the important position of Jordan on Arab and international levels, in addition to the safety and security that Jordan enjoys, which make the Kingdom an important attraction point to receive the Mediterranean Bodybuilding Championship, the second in the biggest competitions of IFBB.
He also cited his wishes for the Jordanian candidates participating in this Championship, which embraces the best of the world athletes, to score the best records, taking into consideration the strong presence and results they achieved in the latest Arab competition.
The IFBB President handed over the Federation’s plaque to the Mayor, and thanked him for sponsoring this championship, pointing out that the IFBB decided to assign the lawyer Yahya Al Soud, the President of Jordan Body Building Federation, to be the vice president of the legal committee at the International Federation.
This visit coincides with the holding of the Mediterranean Championship of Body Building (20) in Amman, which takes during the period 23 – 27 June 2010, patronized by the Mayor, Omar Maani, with the participation of 15 Arab, Asian, African countries and others.
