Topping contestants in the majority of Gold Award categories, Media Plus, the leading Jordanian design house and animation studio, received a total of 12 awards for its various web designs

An initiative of Mediascope, the Jordan Web Awards was launched in 2006 with purpose of inspiring, archiving and rewarding quality web sites and their creators. The door for participation in the 2008 running was opened late last year, granting an opportunity for designers, developers, site owners and different governmental and non-governmental organizations to receive acknowledgement for their various web designs.

Continuing its success streak from the 2007 Web Awards, the company received the Web Company of the Year 1st Runner Up Award. This unique acknowledgement is given to design houses that produce an impressive array of web designs for an entire year's running. Media Plus had also won the Web Company of the Year Award in the 2007 Jordan Web Awards.

This year, the company received a total of six Gold Awards for several of its websites, including the Madrasati Initiative in the NGO category; Children's Museum in the Culture category; Prisma Jordan in the Art and Design category; Global Micro Clinic in the Health Products and Services category; Saraya Ras Al-Khaimah in the Real Estate category; and the Arab Advisors in the Business & Management Services category.

The company also received a Silver Award for the portal they designed for the Aqaba Community and Economic Development in the Professional Societies Associations category.

Additionally, the company received four Bronze Awards, topping which is the website they had designed for their animated collaboration with Sketch in Motion, the renowned series Nahfat Ailetna in the Entertainment category. Other Bronze Awards include Fluid Productions in the Business and Management Services category; Tarasol in the Telecom Services category; and AB Maritime in the Transportation category.

"This is a great honor for Media Plus, and an even greater acknowledgement of the uncompromising efforts of our team," commented Zaidoun Karadsheh, the company's Executive Director. "Such initiatives allow companies like us to take joy in their accomplishments and give us yet another push to strive for what is better."

An award ceremony was recently held at the Grand Hyatt Amman, organized by Mediascope and held under the patronage of the Jordanian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The ceremony was attended by key players in the Jordanian web design and development and electronic marketing arenas.

More than 150 websites participated in this year's running, representing more than 30 design companies, freelance designers and site owners to compete for the Jordan WebAwards' 27 total categories.

"I would like to express my utter gratitude to Mediascope and the awarding committee for this amazing endeavor," said Media Plus's Technical Director, Tamer Qaraeen. "Efforts to acknowledge the efforts of the various design houses, freelance designers and site owners motivate this important segment of society to keep going, which has made the web design and development front in Jordan one of the most prosperous in the world."
