Microsoft Shares Technology Best Practices with Bahraini Government

Furthering its commitment to promote good government practices through the use of technology, Microsoft Bahrain today announced that it hosted a workshop for senior technology executives from the various entities within the Government of Bahrain.  The workshop took place at Sheraton Bahrain in Manama. During the event, Microsoft demonstrated through a series of presentations how technology can help improve performance within the Bahrain Government framework thereby leading to improved governance practices. The event was attended by representatives from The Court of the Crown Prince, the eGovernment Authority, The Central Informatics Organization, and the representatives from all ministries within the Government.

 Speaking on the event, Naim Yazbeck, Public Sector Director, Microsoft Gulf said “Our strategy for the public sector is to provide a set of solutions to modernise the level of government services. This will help empower the government officials to quicken decision making process, make information more easily available and in turn offer more value-added services to its citizen. Today, people are increasingly becoming tech-savvy, especially with the use of internet, Facebook and social networking; which creates a perfect climate for government adoption to host different technology solutions. Microsoft has launched a spectrum of cloud computing solutions for various sectors. We have been the only cloud provider to offer cloud based services like Hotmail, Xbox live amongst others for a very long time. Now, we are offering our core technologies like Windows, SharePoint and CRM to be hosted as a cloud. These cloud based services can now be offered to the government sector to enhance their services”

Badea Esbai, Country Manager of Microsoft Bahrain added, “The Bahrain Government has been a vvisionary in the development of the country’s technology infrastructure. The workshop held for the IT executives from the Bahraini Government will empower them to use technology more efficiently in the delivery of enhanced e-services.  We are honoured to have had the opportunity to demonstrate the power of Microsoft technologies to the Bahrain government sector.”

On attending the workshop, Mr. Ahmed Al Sawafiri Head of Projects, Policies Directorate, eGovernment Authority said: The workshop was very informative, it has helped us understand the latest Government technology trends offered by Microsoft. There are challenges, especially when it comes to the adoption of latest technologies. The workshop has also given us a view into the next generation of government services which ultimately helps us plan ahead on how we can boost productivity and improve governance. We look forward to such events in the future, as it provides an insight and help us leverage the latest technology trends”
From his side, Jaffer Al Jad, Chief of Computer Services, Ministry of Labor commented on the event saying: “I would like to thank Microsoft Bahrain for providing me with such a brilliant opportunity to attend this workshop , The workshop provided effective solutions on how to use technology to address some of our core areas of interest  like controlling unemployment and managing national training services as well as building high level relationship with our customers. ”
The event addressed key issues that face the government today including privacy, security, information management and client uptake. Group discussions were also held during the event to discuss the future direction of eGovernment and the provision of timely and accurate eGovernment services to citizens.
