The Mitchell Commission, which is charged with investigating the violence in the Palestinian territories, completed its report in New York on Tuesday, reported the Turkish Daily News.

The commission, headed by former US senator George Mitchell, will present its report to US Secretary of State Colin Powell in the coming days, said the paper.

Diplomatic sources told the paper that "the 35-page report, the 10,000 pages of documents and the 100-hour-long video record will be presented to Powell who will transfer them to US President George W. Bush."

The commission had completed its mission at this stage, "but in case of a request from President Bush it can resume its work."

Other commission members are Javier Solana, Senior Representative of the European Union, former US senator Warren Rudman and Norwegian Foreign Minister Throbjoem Jagland.

The committee was set up in October according to an agreement reached by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and former US president Bill Clinton in Sharm el-Sheik - Albawaba.com
