Demand for fire protection products have increased in most countries of the world and the market has grown remarkably, especially in countries experiencing high rates of development across all economic sectors. In fact, recent figures show that despite the current global economic downturn, the worldwide market for active fire protection is currently worth around $5 billion annually. This sum is set to grow by 5% in 2011 to a global figure of $6.1 billion, with much of this growth taking place in the Middle East and China.

With the economic boom and the development of major projects in the region, there are many potential risks. Last year there were 1543 fires that caused 30 deaths and 115 injuries across the UAE, according official figures. In addition, according to Civil Defence officials, fire safety features and procedures are lacking in the vast majority of UAE buildings.

In light of these statistics, safety standards must be improved to ensure the protection of citizens and structures around the country. This is according to Mohamed Abdullah bin Jumah Altenaiji, Chairman of MJ International LLC (MJI), which he established to meet the growing demand for products that are safe and effective. The company serves as the exclusive agents for an innovative product called Cold Fire© in the UAE.

Says Altenaiji: “Fire incidences across the country were alarmingly high during the past year, underscoring the great need to improve protection. It is our mission to lead the way in firefighting technology by revolutionizing the way fires are combated through the provision of quality, cost-effective and environmentally friendly products.”

According to Altenaiji, Cold Fire© can address the dire need that currently exists. “Fire extinguishers are a critical component of saving property and lives in the case of a fire emergency. For a fire extinguisher to be effective, however, the right type must be used properly in any given situation. In the case of Cold Fire©, there is not a fire it cannot put out - and it does so much faster and more effectively than any other methods on the market. ”

Made from edible plants extracts, Cold Fire© is non-flammable, biodegradable, non-corrosive, safe, non-toxic, non-allergenic, and ecologically remedial.  It prevents the spread and re-ignition of fires by rapidly cooling surfaces and absorbing vaporized fuel.

Altenaiji explains: “Cold Fire© enhances the safety of fire fighters and people who are in and around burning structures by neutralizing the hydrocarbon particles, drastically cutting the damage and danger that typically accompanies a fire. In addition, Cold Fire© reduces the density of smoke, as well as the hazards of steam scolding and smoke inhalation while increasing visibility and easing breathing. The resulting cooler air also reduces a building’s heat-collapse factor below risk temperature.”

Says Altenaiji: “The essentiality of having safety and fire fighting equipment at hand is incontrovertible. Similarly, regular training must be done to aid people in understanding the causes of fire accidents and the importance of following all safety precautions.”

MJI will be introducing Cold Fire© during International Security and National Resilience 2010 (ISNR) which kicks off at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on 1 March 2010.

The exhibition, held under the patronage of H.H General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, will address the dangers caused by the growing concern of terrorist activities and the increasing threats of natural and manmade disasters worldwide.

It will also focus on the best solutions for public and private sectors and civilian entities alike to detect, prevent, protect, respond to and recover from various dangers.
