MobileCom announced at a press conference, held at the Four Seasons Hotel, the implementation of the “PAYNET” (The National Payment Gateway), a service provided through a joint venture between Visa Jordan Card Services (VJCS) and Specialized Technical Services (STS).

MobileCom's Products and Services Marketing Manager, Marwan Al-Muhaisen said that the launch of this service is a step forward towards the enhancement of MobileCom services for the benefit of its customers.  Implementing the unique PAYNET service will facilitate easy settlement of subscriptions through MobileCom's website from anywhere, and at anytime, securely and smoothly.

Al-Muhaisen added, “Providing this service will save our customers time and reduce the queues often seen in our branches.  We are confident it will eventually become the ultimate and most convenient means for customers to settle their mobile bills and recharge their prepaid lines.  As the leader in e-commerce payment services, we have focused on applying new and modern technologies in several areas.   In pursuing the highest international standards in security and encryption, today, MobileCom is the pioneer mobile operator in providing electronic payment solutions in Jordan through Visa, and soon MasterCard.

PAYNET is very simple.  The process starts with MobileCom customers visiting the MobileCom website (www.mobilecom.jo).  After establishing the payment due, and preferred method of payment, customers will only need to click the 'Pay' button and the transaction will be processed via the PAYNET system in a very secure and encrypted manner.  After finalizing the transaction, a confirmation report will be issued back to the customer via the MobileCom website.

PAYNET has adopted 'Verified by Visa' and 'MasterCard Secure' code standards.  By applying these international standards, users paying electronically by Visa, Visa electron and MasterCard are requested to enter a pin code in addition to further card information thereby identifying the cardholder identity and authorization.  Through these measures, misuse and fraud are prevented.

In commenting about the innovative service, Hani Al Qadi, Board member of Visa CEMEA, and Chairman of Visa Jordan Card Services Co. said that we are proud today to announce the commencement of PAYNET service with our partners MobileCom.  We recognize the pivotal role MobileCom plays as one of the principal institutions in our Jordanian society.  VJCS-STS joint venture aims at exploiting its capabilities to introduce the latest payment solutions through PAYNET thereby reaching the different clusters of our Jordanian society.  We are keen to introduce latest technologies and services of international standards.  VJCS-STS joint venture will conduct an awareness campaign related to the service on the national level and in association with the participating banks before the end of year 2005, Al Qadi added.

Ramzi Zeine, Chairman of STS Group, and board member of VJCS-STS joint venture reiterated upon the significance of launching PAYNET service with MobileCom, thereby initiating National Payment Gateway (NPG) in Jordan. Zeine said that NPG will provide online payment solutions serving all customers including individuals, government entities, and private institutions, throughout card based payments as well as account to account transfer in cooperation with participating banks.
