Dubai Festival City kicks off Dubai Summer Surprises with a variety of exclusive and fun themed weeks for children of all ages

With the launch of yet another highly anticipated Dubai Summer Surprises, Dubai Festival City, the world-class waterfront lifestyle resort and one of the UAE’s most exciting retail, dining and leisure destinations, kicked off to an explosive start with the Arts Surprises Week, showcasing an array of mind-blowing hand-miming and magic shows, animated activities and media, film and art workshops for the whole family.

This week, children will be given the chance, among many other activities, to watch their favorite movies in the Cube Cinema every day from 5pm-7pm and 7:30pm-10pm in the South Court of Festival Waterfront Centre. Other exciting activities include the Two Hands Mime Show from 6pm-7pm daily at Festival Square and the staged magic performance at the Festival Power Centre every afternoon from Thursday to Saturday.

To top it all off, during the Art Surprises children will be able to bring their favorite characters to life during the Media and Film Workshop as well as the opportunity to express themselves through painting and drawing during the Art Attack Workshop.

Throughout the ten week period, Dubai Festival City will be adorned with a lavish display of decorations designed specifically for DSS.  Additional activities include the city-wide promotion and a chance to win Dhs 500,000 a week for ten consecutive weeks, live performances, talent shows and workshops, often made more exciting with surprise visits from Modesh, the DSS brand ambassador and best friend to children across the region.

“Dubai Summer Surprises has secured an international standing and reputation over the years and is an important part of Dubai’s shopping and leisure calendar,” said Theresa Backus Dunn, Retail Marketing Manager, Dubai Festival City. “We are thrilled to offer, for the second time around, a variety of entertaining and exciting activities for the whole family to enjoy. The summer fun is yet to begin!”

Exclusive to Dubai Festival City is the Junior Chef of the Year competition, held between 5th to 11th July at Festival Waterfront Centre, which will set the stage for the Emirates Culinary Cooking Awards. In August, Barbie fans will have a chance to get up close and personal with Barbie, compete in the Barbie Cover Girl Competition and show off the latest fashion trends in an exclusive Barbie Fashion Show.

In addition to the fun-filled activities taking place at Dubai Festival City, customers can also benefit from the fantastic discounts and special offers at many of the Centre's outstanding outlets. The introduction of new stores and cafes such as Istana, Caroll, Biela, Ed Hardy, I Style, Ahmad Seddiqi & Sons, Karen Millen, Rodo, Marc Kane, Dim Sum Steam Café and Café Blanc, offer customers the optimal shopping and entertainment experience.
Dubai Festival City’s 2.1 million sq. ft. retail resort comprises Festival Waterfront Centre and Festival Power Centre and will be home to 550 shops, 20 flagship and anchor stores, 90 restaurants and cafés. Additionally, a Skywalk Entertainment level will be home to a 12-screen Grand Cinema Complex, Electronics Collection, Bowling City, a Skywalk food court, Fitness First and Magrudy’s. Dubai Festival City is a key destination and central component of Dubai Summer Surprises 2007 and is soon to become one of the most sought out destinations in Dubai.
