Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development to host 90 leaders from the US during Dubai Policy Watch forum

High-profile US delegation aims to get deeper understanding of Dubai’s role as a global city

Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development (MBRCLD) has announced at a press conference held today (Monday, March 09, 2009) that it will host a group of 90 leaders from the business, government, education and civic sectors of the US who will participate in a three-day session of the Dubai Policy Watch forum, which will be held from March 10 – 12, 2009 in Dubai. The visit aims to examine the economic strategies of the country under the theme "A Competitive Region in a Global Economy."

The US delegation has been travelling around the world with the mission to explore and benchmark the economic strategies of thriving metropolitan regions against international best practices. The US Study Mission will be joined at the forum by high-ranking officials from the UAE who will serve as keynote speakers during the event.

Announcing MBRCLD's hosting of the US Study Mission, Adel Al Shared, Executive Chairman of Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development said: "Hosting the US delegation will give us a unique opportunity to reflect on our economic policies with respect to the best practices being adopted in other key growth regions around the world. This activity will surely be a lot more enlightening as it will enable us to scrutinise our own development initiatives from the perspective of the visiting US delegates. We have also invited senior-level officials from different government departments and business organisations to talk about their own growth strategies and to also participate in the succeeding high-level discussions. With such a prominent list of participants and speakers, we are definitely looking forward to highly instructive and informative sessions."

The Dubai Policy Watch forum will feature discussions focusing on important areas that affect the economic condition of the UAE, including finance, governance, business and commerce, education, human resources, transportation, real estate, healthcare and technology. Acting on a suggestion made by executives from Boeing and Microsoft, the US Study Mission has chosen the UAE as a model society for the Arab World as it seeks to learn more about the region's culture, history and economy.

Among the keynote speakers scheduled to take part in the event are H.E Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State; Matter Al Tayer, Chairman, Roads and Transport Authority; Nassir Al Shaikh, Director General, Department of Finance; Eng. Hamad M. Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Dr. Abdulla Karem, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA); Huraiz Almur Bin Huraiz, Vice President Commercial, Dubai Airports; Marwan Bin Ghalita, CEO, Real Estate Regulatory Agency; Maitha Al Shamsi, Managing Director of Dubai Women’s Establishment; and Adel Al Shared, Executive Chairman of Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development and Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Mohammed Bin Rashid Foundation.
