More than 9.4 million Syrians are eligible to vote in the July 10 national referendum on Bashar Assad's candidacy to fill his late father's shoes as president, Interior Minister Mohammed Harba said.
Bashar received the unanimous backing of parliament Tuesday.
"All Syrians age 18 and over as of January 1, 2000 will have the right to vote -- that's 9,442,054 citizens," Harba, who chairs the committee preparing the referendum, was quoted by the official SANA news agency as saying.
