The turnover of the Moroccan telecommunications sector plays a major role in the national economy. The sector represents today nearly 5% of the GDP whereas the world average is around 3%, estimates Abdeslam Ahizoune, chairman of Maroc Telecom.
The development of telecommunications in Morocco, explained Abdeslam, is the result of the reforms undertaken in this sector knew, and in particular in the legislative level. In this regards, reports Bladi.Net, Mr. Ahizoune added that the most significant reform was that of 1998, which brought to the separation of the post office from telecommunications and the creation of the National Agency for Telecommunications Regulation (ANRT) and of Morocco Telecom.
