Morocco has established a field hospital in the city of Madadi, in Niger, approximately 550 km south-east of Niamey in order to assist the famine struck people in Niger. The hospital includes a team of a few specialized doctors and about sixty male nurses.
Bladi.Net reports that about 3.6 millions out of the 12 million population of Nigeriwere struck by famine this year due to the low yields of Niger's agriculture in 2004-2005, which were caused by this year's drought and locust invasion.
