Nando’s, the international Afro-Portuguese chain of restaurants and the home of the peri-peri flame grilled chicken, today launched an art initiative for Little Grown Ups, which invites school-age children across the emirates to design a poster on the subject – ‘paint today your healthy tomorrow’. Launched at the Nando’s restaurant in Nando’s - The Residences, Downtown Burj Khalifa, the art initiative aims to spread the healthy eating and better living message among Little Grown Ups - and big ones too - in the country. This month, children will be invited to submit their ‘paint today your healthy tomorrow’ artwork. Entries that are short-listed will go on to be exhibited at the Arabian Centre for a week. A judging panel - made up of Reshma Govindjee, director of ArtHouse Marina; Katya Trabulsy, renowned contemporary artist; and Hala Barghout a nutritionist from Lively - will select the best three drawings. The three winning pictures will be framed and displayed on the Nando’s Wall of Fame, with a grand prize of an overnight family stay in Atlantis with unlimited access to Aquaventure. Speaking about the initiative, Suhail Gidwani, CEO Nando’s UAE said: “Nando’s Kidz art initiative comes at a time when unhealthy junk food is making more and more children obese and unfit, when they should be leading a healthy lifestyle. The competition gives children a voice about an important subject which affects them directly, while allowing them to explore their creative talents for a good cause, and for a chance to win fantastic prizes.” Nando's is a great choice for both adults and Little Grown Ups. Nando’s halal butterfly-cut chicken is trimmed of fat, marinated in Nando’s Afro-Portuguese sauce for 24 hours and then basted in your choice of lemon and herb, mild, hot or extra hot peri-peri sauce. Nando's chicken is high in protein and lower in fat and sodium, not to mention that Nando's chicken is free of artificial preservatives, added MSG and colourants! Little Grown Ups visiting any Nando’s restaurant can also enjoy a wholesome, nutritious and tasty meal thanks to Nando’s brand new Kidz Menu. This Menu includes nutritional meal options for children including a Chicken Burger Meal, Chicken Drumsticks Meal and Chicken Strips Meal. All Nando’s Kidz meals come with a choice of a small side order, with choices including rice, wedges, chips, or corn on the cob. Unlike kids meal options at other restaurants, each Nando’s Kidz meal is served with fresh fruits or vegetables and a juice.
