Media personality and CEO of Pyramedia, Nashwa Al Ruwaini participated in a panel revolving around Content for the Arab World as part of the Middle East Television and Middle East Broadcast Solutions Exhibition. As media companies flock to the region, the main focus of the panel was creating viable content and funding for the talent that is available in the region.

Speaking alongside Nashwa on Tuesday were Peter Einstein, CEO of Eclipse Digital, Mohammed Harib, Director of Freej, David Shepheard, Film Commissioner at the Abu Dhabi Film Commission and Fadi Ismail, Director of O3 Productions-MBC Group. Moderating the conference was the CEO of Flip Media, Yousef Tuqan Tuqan.

The panel addressed the various aspects revolving around content for the Arab world from creation and implementation to funding and broadcasting. Before a media industry was created within the UAE, major companies had to operate outside the region but with a burgeoning industry now in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, content creators are increasingly looking and encouraging talents and helping them get the required funding to succeed. Each member of the panel contributed their experiences and knowledge of the media industry abroad and in the UAE to make for a lively discussion of all facets of the industry.

Said Nashwa, “There are opportunities now more than before in the UAE and we can either adapt concepts for the local market or create our own. Instead of taking Western formats and Arabizing them, we should tailor-make our own formats for the region that appeal to everyone and create content and concepts that are distinctly Arabic. We have much talent in the Arab world that we need to utilize and even when we bring international talent in the production stage then we need local talent to shadow them and learn as much as possible for them to advance the future of the media industry in the UAE.”

Pyramedia were also participants in the Exhibition, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center on November 17 and 18. The Middle East Television and Middle East Broadcast Exhibition, in association with twofour54, presents an unrivalled opportunity in the MENA region for content creators, producers, distributors and technology experts to meet those at the forefront of investments, collaborations and innovations in the Middle East.
