Nasrallah Damascus visit ”shocks” Israel

According to press reports, Thursday's visit of Lebanon's Hizbullah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah to the Syrian capital Damascus and his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have shocked the Israeli security establishment which believed it had succeeded to a large extent to "restrict" Nasrallah's movement since the end of the war in Lebanon in 2006. According to these reports, Nasrallah's public visit to Syria was coupled with intensive day and night flight by Israeli aircraft over the

 

The Kuwaiti AlJareeda newspaper quoted sources close to Hizbullah as saying Nasrallah through his recent visit to Damascus reied to send a message to challenge Israel against the backdrop of the war between his group's security department, which seeks to avenge its leader Imad Mughniyeh and Israel. These sources claim it seems that the real objective of these flights was to try to monitor the movements of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah in an attempt to kill him during his move from his hiding place to the Syrian capital.

 

On the other hand, Nasrallah was keen to show Israel Hizbullah's security capabilities including those connected to its leader's freedom of movement.
