NBAD Appoints a New General Manager of Consumer & Elite Banking

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, has announce TODAY the appointment of Suvo Sarkar, an experienced and acclaimed banker, the General Manager of NBAD's Consumer and Elite Banking Division.

Mr. Sarkar joins NBAD on 1st June 2010 from Emirates NBD, where he was the executive vice president and general manager for the bank's retail banking business. Mr. Sarkar has more than 22 years of experience as a senior consumer banking professional spanning across five leading banks in Asia and Middle East. He has extensive experience in management of all consumer products and services including cards, personal loans, mortgages, wealth management and branch and electronic banking.

"We are pleased that Suvo has joined NBAD bringing to the Bank his wealth of knowledge, expertise and excellence in consumer banking," said Saif Al Shehhi, the Senior General Manager of Domestic Banking Division at NBAD. During his long career of 24 years, Mr. Sarkar has worked with Citibank, ANZ Grindlays Bank and Standard Chartered Bank as well as with National Bank of Dubai before its merger with Emirates Bank, working in the UAE, Bahrain, Indonesia, India and Thailand.

"Leading the Consumer and Elite Banking businesses of NBAD marks a high in my career in banking," Mr. Sarkar said. "I decided to join NBAD because of its ambitious plans and its astute management, which has allowed it to weather the financial fallout of the last few years better than most other local and global banks. Mr. Sarkar replaces John Malouf who will retire from NBAD. "We thank John Malouf for his service and dedication to NBAD. He was crucial in advancing the Consumer Banking Group to a new level," Mr. Saif Al Shehhi said.
