ALBAWABA- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asserted that any agreement on Gaza must ensure the cessation of Hamas' weapons smuggling across the border with Egypt. Netanyahu emphasized that Israel will continue its military operations until all its objectives are met.

The Prime Minister's office noted that Netanyahu's firm stance against halting Operation Rafah influenced Hamas to agree to negotiations.

This statement follows the Israeli government's approval to participate in Egyptian-brokered ceasefire talks, with Hamas agreeing to a prisoner swap deal as the first phase without a ceasefire.

According to Reuters, Netanyahu stated that the approved proposal by Israel ensures the return of hostages without compromising on the war's objectives. He emphasized that thousands of militants cannot return to northern Gaza under the terms of the deal.

Additionally, the Israeli Defense Minister announced that a ceasefire in Gaza as part of the prisoner exchange does not imply stopping military actions on the northern front, indicating that fighting will persist until Hezbollah agrees to a resolution and northern settlements are secure.
