After her success which sent imaginations running at Dubai Fashion Week earlier in the year, winning her the ‘Emerging Talent’ competition, Deborah Anne Simcox and her Sartori Sartori collection have been invited to take part in Fashion Expo Arabia, next week.
Showcasing her new Summer/Spring – 2010 collection, Lotus Garden, Deborah’s creations will be found at the Sartori Sartori stand no. 449 in Hall 4 of the expo, being held for the first time at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre from October 26 to 28, 2009.
Since first arriving on the local fashion scene at the beginning of the year, Deborah has built a strong following for her Sartori Sartori brand – having been picked up by O Concept Boutique, confirmed private orders for a number of her pieces, and gained the admiration of the region’s fashion elite, holding private shows in some of the city’s hottest venues.
“Being asked to take part in the expo is the final push after a long year spent building up to this moment,†she says. “When I first came on the scene it was my first collection for the brand I’ve been dreaming about creating for the last five years, so there was a lot of pressure.â€
Continuing the same Sartori Sartori theme which captured the heart’s of the region’s fashion lovers earlier in the year, the new collection is a daring mixture of night time chic and classic antiquated elegance.
Deborah herself describes the Summer/Spring Lotus Garden collection as “drawing inspiration from its museâ€.
“The Lotus Flower symbolises purity in the true sense of the term; despite its surroundings it remains untouched and the exemplar of beauty,†she says. “The collection offers a renewed, revitalized and inspiring beginning to the year ahead.â€
The ultimate theme for Deborah when she first envisaged the Sartori Sartori concept was creativity; creativity in the collection itself and in the people who wear it.
It’s a unique concept, with Sartori Sartori Deborah is providing a platform for other artists to incorporate their work into her vision. On this basis, artists from a variety of genres are brought together to create a bi-annual contemporary, avant-garde collection for Sartori Sartori.
“The Sartori Sartori concept is the first of its kind to fuse artists together in this manner,†she says “Much like a collective; Sartori Sartori encourages freedom of expression through design, and then combines these diverse styles to develop one individualist evening wear collection.â€
Sartori Sartori is taking evening wear and bringing it to a new level, where people can express themselves through the creativity of its designers and their own personal taste for something new and daring.
Deborah will also be showcasing creations at Dubai Fashion Week’s Barbie Grande Finale Show on the 29th of October, 2009. The Barbie show has been taking place at the world's most prestigious fashion events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic fashion doll, and has included designs from top designers Karl Lagerfeld, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger.
