Nine gunmen believed to belong to extremist organizations were killed in various operations carried out by Algerian security and army forces in Oran and Mascara provinces west of Algiers, an Algerian newspaper reported on Monday.
The "Elkhabar" daily quoted informed security sources as saying these operations are within the framework of dismantling the rest of an armed organization called al-Salafi Group for Preaching and Combat that broke away from the Islamic armed group led by Antar Zawabri.
Algerian forces were able to arrest 30 people suspected of belonging to the organization in the Oran, Mascara and Sidi Bel Abbes provinces after dismantling a six-member network last week who possessed weapons, explosives and ammunition central of Oran, said reports. (albawaba.com)
